Everybody remembers Carl Douglas' song 'Everybody was kungfu fighting' right? But do you remember the videoclip? A bunch of super awesome Afro Americans with the original swag funking up the Chinese martial art. That vibe pretty much sums up this weeks movie Black Dynamite. The question is: can you dig it?

Ok, so back on track: Black Dynamite is a "Blax-ploitation" action comedy featuring an African-American legend that miraculously only scores a 7.2 at IMDB. I mean, there is just so much good to be said about the movie. For starters the soundtrack (listen to it when you finished listening to Kungfu Fighting): super Funkalicious with a capital F. Then you have the little jokes and one liners, the crazy ideas, the decors, the outfits, the (on purpose) dodgy camera work, the awesome characters and of coarse Michael Jay White who does a fabulous job acting as the Black Dynamite. I was laughing out loud the whole film through. There is on part that I will always remember, which is when Black Dynamite is giving a speech. During this shot a mic "accidentally" drops in next to his face, the camera man then continuously correct his aim to keep the mic out of the shot. Black Dynamite doesn't care the whole speech trough but only glances at it just before he finish his speech. If I didn't know any better I'd say it was for real and the film was made in the 70s. It is about these little things that make this film so cool.
I wont say more about Black Dynamite, because I'd probably just overload you fun memories I have of the film or boring facts whereas you better be watching Black Dynamite. He's the black Austin Powers with jokes that hit harder than his fists. He's the Vietnam vet without the Post-traumatic stress disorder. He's the pimp that every oldskool black rapper wants to be. He's the ex C.I.A. agent that...I don't know..but who cares? He's awesome! Enjoy!
